Belgium, as an offshore wind pioneer with ambitious future plans, maintains close ties with Japan in the field of offshore energy. This flourishing cluster is an important spearhead cluster for West Flanders, the only Belgian province located on the North Sea.

With the emerging offshore wind market in Japan and their interest in collaborating with Belgian companies and partners, this visit provided an excellent opportunity to explore investment and collaboration possibilities. Together with e-BO Enterprises, Ostend Science Park, and Sirris, POM West Flanders visited various companies, clearly demonstrating the potential for future partnerships.

During an Investment Seminar 'Powering the Future' at the Belgian Embassy on April 17, we presented, in collaboration with Flanders Investment & Trade, the expertise, experiences, and possibilities in offshore wind in West Flanders. The numerous bilateral networking moments were the focal point during this mission.

The involved partners hope that this visit opens doors to further growth and exchange of knowledge and technology between both countries and contributes to strengthening the position of the West Flanders Blue Energy cluster in Japan.
